I'm back...and how about some criss cross braids.

Whoa, that was longer than I thought. I beg for forgiveness. We have had swimming lessons each day this week at noon and it just didn't make sense to do my girls hair twice a day, so instead they have resembled orphans.

HOWEVER,
Today there was no swimming lessons. WOOT!

This was going to start out as two braids pulled together. I have been doing just my regular standbys lately, but we decided to take it up a notch. It turned out pretty cute. You could do this with six braids as well. SO fun!

Part the hair into four sections.

Braid down as far as you can. I did an upside down braid this time.

Secure each section with an elastic.

Then, if you numbered the braids 1...2...3...4, you take braids 1 & 3 together and secure them with an elastic.

Then comb the hair under smooth and spritz with some hairspray.

Then secure braids 2 & 4.

Tie a ribbon around each braid.

Curl the ends under.

I don't know how you do it! Your hair ideas are so fantastic and the way you explain it always makes it feel very "do-able". :) Thanks for a great hair tip and welcome back!

I just found your blog through Heather Bailey's blog - and its totally depressing me! I am SO BAD at doing my girl's hair. I have two adorable girls, and pretty much all I ever do is brush, and maybe do a "knot" in the bangs. My girls hate getting their hair done, and its a battle every morning. You talking about how its such an intimate moment with your girls that you look forward to just makes me sad. Any advice on how to get my girls to like getting their hair done? Mine seriously scream and cry big fat tears if I try to do anything more than just brush it. They both have really tender heads, which I can relate to because I do too. My mom says that I was just as difficult about getting my hair done as my girls are.

A friend of mine linked me to your blog and I have tried out several hairstyles. I love them! And, here are links to my daughter with the criss cross braids!

She has super fine, very slippery hair, so any way to get her hair out of her face is fantastic.

Thanks you!

I snorted when you said your girls have looked like orphans...because I'm guessing that they ACTUALLY looked a whole lot like MY girls. ;) You inspire me, though, so I fight through it and try new things a few times a week. My biggest problem is that once I master a hairstyle, I don't want to do it anymore. Do you ever feel that way??

Welcome back! Such a cute hairstyle. I love your blog. It gives me lots of inspiration for my little girl. She's almost 2 and still has her baby hair (short and thin). I started a blog of styles I have done with her hair if you'd like to check it out:

I'm not sure how you find the time to do this... but I'm sure glad you are! You have SUCH darling ideas! I love them all! Thanks for not being "greedy" with your creativity and sharing with the "not so creative" (such as myself!)

Absoltuly Adorable hair styles.

I have a little girl that doesn't like to have her hair done because she is so tender headed. However, I showed a few of your styles to her and she loves the flower barrets. So, we are going to the Dolla store to pick up some flowers. If I can get here to wear them I will count you as a saint for being so sweet to put up your hair styles! :)

Blessings.

So glad you're back -- I love checking in for ideas! It's a good thing we've been at the lake a lot and had swimming lessons too because we do "beach bun" -- one twisty messy bun with leave-in conditioner.

My daughter who's hair I did all the time when she was little hates me to do much more than comb her hair now. However, whe loved this hairstyle and let me try it on her the very next day. It was so easy, cute and fun and it stayed pretty well for a couple of days when she was willing to let me touch her hair again. Thanks for the ideas - I will definitely be using this website regularly once school starts!
